BeachCorps has launched a photo contest!
(Photo Above: Winning April 2018 Photo submitted by @NefertititheQueen; $US 100 awarded to the Puntacana Group Foundation)
We want to encourage tourists, hotels and tourism companies like airlines to pledge to support sustainability in tourism in Punta Cana. THIS PHOTO CONTEST IS ON HOLD BUT WILL BE STARTED UP AGAIN SOON!
We want to make travel an ever-increasing force for sustainable good. There is a growing recognition that the tourism development is straining the environment and not providing sufficient benefits to the local communities. We want travelers to encourage the Dominican hotel industry to focus sustainability: economic, social, cultural and especially environmental.
As a first step in this expanding program, BeachCorps is promoting a photo contest for Instagram that also will be shown on Facebook and promoted on Twitter.
HOW TO ENTER?
Share your own pictures of beautiful parts of your hotel in the Dominican Republic, especially around Punta Cana and La Romana and the eastern Dominican Republic and tag it with the hashtag #SustainabilityPledge #BeachCorps. We will also reach out to folks on Instagram for permission to use their great photos.
Include a caption with #SustainabilityPledge #BeachCorps and if you want also the #PuntaCanaPledge. The messages can include lines like “Punta Cana is beautiful; let’s keep it that way!”
The winner of the contest will be able to designate US $100 to a worthy nonprofit of their choice promoting sustainability.
