Description
Volunteer vacations are NOT just for millennials! Volunteering and surfing (or just chilling at the beautiful and undeveloped Macao Beach) are DEFINITELY activities for the 50+ crowd! BeachCorps and the Macao Surf Camp are offering a special Silver Surfer Volunteer excursion for the 50+ crowd! Just get a group of 50+ folks together and use the coupon code AARPFOREVER!! and your volunteer excursion and surf lessons/visit to Macao Beach) are FREE for the first 5 people! Just make a small donation straight to the great nonprofit FECOTUR (Responsible Ecotourism Foundation). Your pilot program will be used to create great photos and videos to promote our “Recycling for Education” projects that begin in the summer of 2019. It’s a one-time offer only in 2018; we will end the offer after the first trip is booked and it won’t be available again until 2019!
Working side-by-side with a great nonprofit, FECOTUR, BeachCorps is collecting school supplies in exchange for communities collecting some plastic bottles for recycling. By the summer of 2019, we hope to have full-fledged BeachCorps volunteer vacation programs ready where volunteers can come to local communities and celebrate the donation of more and better school supplies in exchange for recycling and creating cleaner communities.
The FECOTUR mission is to advance environmental protection and social sustainability alongside business and tourism development in the Punta Cana area. Their short-term goal is for tourism to help the community grow while minimizing the impact on the environment while integrating underserved communities into the environmental protection plan, particularly through children’s education and community action. Their long-term plan is to have tourism actually advance environmental protection and social investment in health and education. They aim to leave a better future for ALL our children by developing a greater awareness of our responsibilities to our planet.
Macao Surf Camp is a locally owned business run by some great Silver Surfers who always are giving back to their community and working to protect the beauty of Punta Cana and Macao Beach! If you feel up to it, get a surf lesson or just enjoy the beauty of Macao Beach!

Details on the Excursion
You will be picked up at your hotel in the morning by BeachCorps partner Runners Adventures, the biggest (and we think best) excursion provider in the country that is highly rated on Trip Advisor. BeachCorps will take you to a local community where your donation to FECOTUR and your participation will help us provide school supplies to kids who have participated in the FECOTUR “Recycling for Education” program and collected plastic recycling to exchange for their school supplies. We will play inter-cultural games where mixed teams of locals and foreigners learn about each other (no Spanish required). After a boxed lunch, we will take you to beautiful Macao Beach where the Macao Surf camp will give you a private surf lesson–or you can just chill out on the beach! - Must sign Liability Waiver.
- Covered shoes required. Bring a towel and change of clothing for the beach.
- The minimum age to participate in this tour is 50 years old.
Restrictions
- Not recommended for people with back problems.
- People with disability and/or mobility problems cannot take part in this tour.
- Not recommended for people with asthma or infections of the upper airways.
- Not recommended for people with severe peanut allergies.
- Direct bookings from cruise line passengers are not accepted. Please book our tours with your cruise line.
- People with a cold or flu cannot take part in this tour.
