Description 

This volunteer project will raise funds for a volunteer project in the area of Punta Cana-Bavaro Interact Club and help raise funds to allow the kids of the Punta Cana-Bavaro Interact Club to visit the Pico Duarte mountain, the highest point in the Caribbean and a major rite of passage for Dominican youth.  Interact is a service club program sponsored by Rotary International for youth ages 12 to 18 that seeks to foster leadership.  The Punta Cana-Bavaro Interact Club is a new and fast-growing club that was started with the support of the Punta Cana-Bavaro Rotary Club and the Puntacana Foundation, part of the Punta Cana Group.

BeachCorps is in the process of creating a regular volunteer vacation program to support the Punta Cana-Bavaro Interact Club that will divide donations from BeachCorps volunteers with 50% going towards community project costs and 50% towards scholarship funds to support Interact kids who help bring positive change to their communities.  BeachCorps is contributing up to $200 in matching funds for all donations to this wonderful cause!  BeachCorps hopes that this pilot project with the Punta Cana-Bavaro Rotary Club will become a model for other projects with Interact clubs in the rest of the Dominican Republic and then the WORLD!  As with all programs in 2019, BeachCorps is not accepting payment for any services for this project.

On your Interact Volunteer Excursion, you will be picked up at your hotel in the morning by BeachCorps partner Runners Adventures, the biggest (and we think best) excursion provider in the country that is highly rated on Trip Advisor.  During your project, you will learn about the mission of Interact and of Rotary International and meet some of children of the Interact club, engaging in multicultural games and (depending on the work progress) possible light construction work and/or painting. We will play inter-cultural games where mixed teams of locals and foreigners learn about each other (no Spanish required).  More specific details on timing sent after purchase.

Requirements

  • Must sign Liability Waiver.
  • Covered shoes required. 
  • The minimum age to participate in this tour is 6 years old.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Your group must have at least 1 minor child (under 18) per every 3 adults.  

Restrictions

  • Not recommended for people with severe peanut allergies.
  • Direct bookings from cruise line passengers are not accepted. Please book our tours with your cruise line.
  • People with a cold or flu cannot take part in this tour.
