BeachCorps was featured in a great Punta Cana Bavaro Online story about our sustainable tourism partnership with the Fundación Grupo Puntacana and our first of many “Sustainability Night” events at Onno’s Bavaro 6-8pm this Friday August 17. The story was entitled “BeachCorps joins great companies in Punta Cana to create sustainable tourism.” PC-Bavaro Online and its sister company PC-Bavaro Magazine are one of the top media outlets focused on tourism in the Punta Cana region.
For the Onno’s Event, 15% of sales are given directly to great nonprofits like the Fundación Grupo Puntacana, Fundación EcoTurismo Responsable, Club Interact Punta Cana Bávaro, Educando Avanzamos, and Rescatamepuntacana. This event was supported by pro-sustainable tourism companies like Runners Adventures, Windemere Bay, EcoServices Dominicana and others!
BeachCorps is a US sustainable tourism organizer and soon to be DC Benefit Corporation promoting a new model of volunteer work (“voluntourism”) from Dominican Republic hotels. BeachCorps seeks to create a “one-stop shop” like Expedia™ for booking volunteer vacations. BeachCorps has three major advantages over other voluntourism:
- BeachCorps collaborates with companies that own great hotels such as the Punta Cana Group and the largest tour excursion company Runners Adventures and other private companies dedicated to corporate social responsibility, which help promote projects.
- BeachCorps only works with real nonprofits like Rotary clubs—not causes invented to please tourists like other voluntourism.
- Project activities truly advance worthy causes, with both light volunteer work plus fun activities like baseball, shows, cooking—all with people-to-people engagement.
