          Quote of the Day

If we only rely on backpackers and ecotourists for sustainable travel, we won’t have a world to sustain soon.~The Beach Bum

So nice to meet you! I’m the BeachCorps Beach Bum. Welcome to my blog on how to combine a great vacation with a great cause. Now I know there are going to be doubters out there.  “No way. Can’t be done. You can’t have sustainable, short-term volunteering. That’s ‘voluntourism’ and all voluntourism is bad.” And I’m going to prove you wrong. By focusing on local heroes instead of hero volunteers, we’re going to fix voluntourism.  One little grain of sand at a time.
