Environment: The Dominican Republic is an island blessed with some of the beautiful beaches, mountain ranges, national parks and natural resources as well as some of the highest concentration of biodiversity in the world; at the same time, as a developing country the Dominican Republic also faces serious environmental challenges. BeachCorps Volunteers will work with nonprofits and local Dominicans, particularly youth, to clean up areas with high levels of littering while also posting signs and planting gardens in these areas to reinforce the anti-littering message. Volunteers can also go into schools and present anti-littering messages.
